Amber is a semi-precious gemstone that is sold as amber jewelry after polishing. In ancient times, amber was known as “Elektron” because of its electrostatic nature – if you rub amber against your hair, the same way you do it with a balloon, it attracts light objects like paper bits. Other older names of amber include “tears of gods” and “Denmark’s gold”.
