Attack is being investigated as an assassination attempt, law enforcement officials tell multiple media outlets.

A male gunman reportedly opened fire Saturday while former President Donald Trump was delivering a speech at a campaign rally just outside of Butler, Pa. Trump, who was injured during the attack, was rushed offstage by a swarm of Secret Service agents.

As the chaotic scene unfolded, a person described as the gunman was shot and killed, Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told the Associated Press and NBC. An audience member was also killed and a second was listed in serious condition, according to Goldinger.

Trump raised his fist to acknowledge his supporters and appeared to be bleeding from his ear as he was led to his motorcade and left the venue. His campaign later released a statement saying he was "fine." The Secret Service is now investigating the incident as an assassination attempt, officials told the AP.
