When it comes to the wedding season, it all begins with customs like haldi, mehandi, and sangeet, but for a bride, they are lacking without lovely online jewellery sets.

What is jewellery called jadau?

The mughals brought jadau for the first time; it was then modified and polished by the artisans of bikaner (Rajasthan), which is today regarded as the centre of jadau jewellery.

In essence, it is a method of creating jewellery in which valuable stones such as uncut diamonds (polki), pearls, rubies, and emeralds are set inside kundan.

The process of creating jadau jewelery involves 4 steps:

1.constructing the structure/Gadhayi

The first stage in constructing jadau jewellery is to build the jewelry's framework out of gold strips. The craftsmen cut, coil, and shape them, and this is perhaps the most crucial stage in creating the base of jewellery.

2. Khudai and Meenakari

After establishing the ghaat (framework), the next stage is to deal with khudai and meenakari. Khudai engraves a pattern or design onto the jewelry's surface. Following Khudai, other colours are then poured into the etched designs on the gold surface.

Meenakari uses heat to fix the colours in the jewelry's structure, and the technique is done as often as the amount of colours are employed.

3. Filling the soorma and placing the gems

The framework of the jewellery is filled in next, after the meenakari soorma. In order to fill in the jewelry's structure, soorma has to be heated.

After the structure has been filled with soorma, the jewels will be affixed to it. The soorma in the necklace must be filled in order to attach a gemstone; otherwise, we are unable to do so.

4. Jadai

The final phase requires the completion of jadai work after costly stones such as polki, rubies, and emeralds have been put into the framework.

Gems are set using the Jadai method, which involves sandwiching a gold foil (Kundan) between the stones and the jewelry's framework.
