Precautions When Taking 7.5 mg of Zopisign
Drowsiness
Some people may experience daytime drowsiness while taking this medication. This can make it difficult to concentrate, especially if you are driving or operating machinery. Avoid consuming alcohol and marijuana (cannabis) as they can enhance the effects of this drug.
The drowsiness from Zopisign 7.5mg can last for the next day. Do not drive or operate dangerous machinery until you have woken up enough to be alert. You should also wait 12 hours before attempting to drive or operate machinery if you have taken zopiclone.
Zopiclone is a class C controlled medicine and must be kept out of the reach of children. If you are unsure whether this medication is safe for your use, talk to your doctor. It can cause addiction and withdrawal symptoms if used for a long time or at high doses. Taking this medication for short periods is best.
Dizziness
If you feel dizzy or lightheaded while taking zopiclone, let your doctor know. It can cause falls and fractured bones in older people, especially when it is combined with alcohol. It may also make it harder to wake up from sleep.
Rarely, this medication has caused people to become active while they are asleep (like driving, making food, or talking on the phone). They do not remember what happened the next morning. This is more likely to happen if you drink alcohol.
Zopiclone works by increasing the activity of a neurotransmitter called GABA. This helps to slow or stop the brain from firing other neurotransmitters, which causes drowsiness. It is a strong sedative and can lead to addiction and withdrawal symptoms. It should not be used long-term or daily. It is better to use it on a few nights each week.
Dry mouth
Zopiclone is used to treat a sleep problem (insomnia). It helps you fall asleep, stay asleep, and reduce the number of times you wake up during the night. It belongs to a class of drugs called sedatives/hypnotics. It works by increasing the activity of a brain chemical called GABA, which quiets the brain.
Dry mouth may occur when you take zopiclone. You can help prevent this side effect by drinking lots of water and using a mouthwash before bedtime. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have problems with dry mouth while taking this medication.
Zopiclone should be used only for short periods, and not more than 10 days at a time. It is not effective when taken regularly and long-term use can cause dependence. Talk to your doctor if you are interested in using this medication for longer than recommended.
Nausea
Zopiclone is used for short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. It works by helping you fall asleep and stay asleep. It is usually taken just before bedtime. It is not recommended for long-term use. This medication can affect liver function and cause side effects in some people. It can also change the results of some blood tests.
Do not take this medication with alcohol. It can cause you to become active during sleep and do things that you may not remember when you wake up. This can include eating food and making phone calls.
This drug can interact with many medications, including opioids. It can increase the risk of drowsiness, difficulty breathing, coma, and death. It should only be used with a doctor's supervision. If an overdose is suspected, administer activated charcoal or gastric lavage. Flumazenil has a rapid onset and should be used in an emergency.
Vomiting
Zopiclone can affect your ability to swallow. If you have problems swallowing or are vomiting after taking zopiclone, tell your doctor right away.
Zopisign may be used to treat a condition called sleep apnoea syndrome. It works by decreasing the number of times you wake up during the night and lengthening the amount of time you spend sleeping.
Taking zopiclone with other medicines that make you sleepy (including opioids such as morphine, fentanyl or codeine; cough suppressants such as pholcodine, dihydrocodeine or aconitum); tricyclic and related antidepressants including amitriptyline, mirtazapine and clomipramine; protease inhibitors for HIV infection such as ritonavir; or the herbal remedy St John's wort can cause dangerous side effects. These include drowsiness, difficulty breathing, and hallucinations.
Taking this medicine long-term or at higher doses than prescribed can cause dependence. It is important to take zopiclone only for short periods of up to four weeks.
