While there’s always something to do on a weekend in Denver, sometimes you just want to leave town during that time period. Can’t say we blame you for that. Why not get in your car and drive?

We will be going over a list of three of the top weekend road trip destinations from Denver. The good news is these will be road trips where the travel time won’t be ridiculously long. These will be enough for a weekend jaunt.

Ready to know where to go? So are we - let’s get started.

  1. Rocky Mountain National Park

Our first road trip begins with an hour and a half drive from Denver to Rocky Mountain National Park. It will be easily accessible by way of Colorado State Route 7 - which is close to many brand new Denver apartments like what Alta Sloan’s Lake offers. If you are someone who loves the outdoors, this is one of the many places Colorado offers for a weekend getaway.

You’ll have plenty of activities such as hiking, taking scenic drives, and spotting all the flora and fauna nature has to offer. The real question is: how will you make the most of this awesome weekend in the mountains?

  1. Aspen

Love to ski? Don’t mind driving at least 3 to 4 hours (traffic permitting)? If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, then grab your skis or snowboard and head out to Aspen. It’s one of the many skiing destinations not just in Colorado, but also the entire world.

But there’s more to Aspen than just skiing. Check out hiking at places like Maroon Bells or sight see at Independence Pass. This is another outdoor haven for many nature lovers.

You’d be crazy not to miss out the chance to go to Aspen for the weekend. Especially if you’re new to the Denver area.

  1. Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs is a one hour drive south from Interstate 25. Once you’re there, you can take in the many outdoor recreational activities they offer. Not to mention, there are plenty of places where you can catch awesome views of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods.

If you’re someone that is a foodie, there’s plenty of restaurants to check out. You might feel overwhelmed by the options. So a little Yelp search for something you’re in the mood for just might be enough.
